So here is a game that, despite the low MSRP ($29.99), looks like it actually may be a decent FPS for the Wii. Graphics look decent, and I imagine that the game play (both on and offline) will be pretty fun. To become death in Venetica is a calling, fulfilled by a man of flesh and
blood - equipped with special supernatural skills in order to be able to
carry out the duties of the office.

A new death is selected regularly by "Corpus", a secret council. This time
however Corpus really makes a wrong decision: The "new" death, Victor,
turns out to be a crazed necromancer who manages to turn himself into an
overpowering undead with seedy tricks and dark rituals and thus attains
almost unlimited power in addition to immortality.

As it is strictly forbidden for the chosen death to devote himself to
necromancy, the committee revokes Victor's nomination immediately and
declares a new death in his stead without delay.

The power-hungry Victor however does not want to relinquish his position
again. He continues to practice the dark arts in order to gather numerous
dark and dangerous creatures and tainted souls from the underworld around
him. He thus succeeds in eliminating the newly designated death and takes
over his power for his own purposes. The effects on the world's balance are
calamitous and - should Victor be able to keep himself in power - its dark
consequences are irreversible.

Only a person who has the same mighty powers as Victor can prevent his
prevailing and vent him his deserved punishment.

Scarlett, the daughter of the real death does not know anything about her
ancestry and the hidden talents which slumber within her. She is immersed
suddenly in this story due to the brutal attack on her home village and
the tragic loss of Benedict, the love of her life.

It is a story which she now begins to write herself, a story during the
course of which she unleashes her capabilities, a story in which she tries
to save Benedict from the world of the dead and a story in which she must
protect the world of the living from the dark threat posed by Victor and
his henchmen.

NEW YORK – November 24rd, 2009 - Paradox Interactive is excited to announce East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar, a stand-alone add-on to their naval war strategy game East India Company, exclusively available for digital download at all major digital download portals from December 8th.

A complement to the original East India Company, East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar recreates the legendary naval battle fought between the British Royal navy and the combined fleets of the French and Spanish navies during the height of the Napoleonic wars in late 1805. Featuring historically accurate ships from all three fleets along with the key naval personnel of the battle, East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar is a simulation of what in reality was the most decisive British naval victory of the war as, led by Admiral Lord Nelson aboard HMS Victory, an outnumbered British fleet sank 22 enemy vessels off of the South West coast of Spain without a single ship of their own being lost.

If one half of game sequels innovate and improve upon their predecessors while the other half offer up still more of what the original had to offer, then Rage of Mages II falls squarely into the second category. It looks, sounds, and feels almost identical to the first game, which was a Warcraft II clone on the surface and a story-driven role-playing game beneath that guise. And although the original Rage of Mages didn't even look or sound that good to begin with, somehow the sequel also manages to scrape by, what with its similarly subtle and enjoyable combination of real-time strategy and story elements all within an accessible and responsive interface. It has an entertaining storybook plot and is fun to play, which will make you wish it had the poise and styling of the first-rate role-playing game it doesn't even aspire to be.

Rage of Mages II recycles many if not most of the original's visual and audio effects, and its new scenery, monsters, and items will easily blend with the old material to make the game seem just a little too familiar, at least on first impression. Your orange-cloaked heroes still look dull, although their paper doll-style portraits can be adorned with a seemingly limitless combination of fantastic weapons and armor, from your typical steel sword and tower shield on up to magical adamantine halberds and dragon-scale leather leggings. Otherwise, the game still looks like a slightly refined Warcraft II, with a top-down perspective and plain 2D creatures and settings.

Trespasser is a fascinating game. Set to be the most revolutionary FPS of 1997, the end result was less than desirable. The game was going to pioneer many features that have become standard in FPS games in recent years. Physics, complex AI, real-time shadowing, water shader technology, an animation system based entirely on inverse kinematics, bump mapping and specular highlighting, and an amazing sound system. Trespasser was going to change the face of the FPS in 1997 forever.
Unfortunately, much like the real Jurassic Park portrayed in the films, everything that could go wrong, did. Poor communication with the development team, going over-budget, being delayed... in the end, Trespasser, a game intended to be more of a puzzle-based survival horror game, was shifted to become an action-based FPS, and shipped with tons of bugs, broken features, cumbersome controls and missing content. Every revolutionary feature contained within the game was completely ignored in favor of how horribly awful every other aspect of it was. For years and even today, the game was the butt of many jokes for how legendarily terrible it truly was.

That's not to say the game isn't without its charm, or without its fans, though. Even Gabe Newell, President of Valve Software, has said Trespasser inspired him to include physics in the Half-Life 2 engine, and both Far Cry and Crysis seem to try things Trespasser attempted - early test versions of Far Cry even featured Dinosaurs. The fansite Trescom provides Trespasser related content even today. Still more projects have been born to remake the game in newer, more modern game engines, like the aforementioned Far Cry Engine.

The game puts you in the shoes of Anne, a woman who is tired of city life and decides to take an unannounced vacation to Costa Rica and ends up having crash-landed on Isla Sorna; Jurassic Park's "Site B". The experience ends up changing her life and makes her appreciate her old life more than ever before.

As you play, clips of John Hammond's memoirs play, voiced by Richard Attenborough himself. Minnie Driver plays Anne. Truly, Hammond's Memoir's are one of the few redeeming factors you get out of playing Trespasser.

It's worth noting that the man behind Trespasser's concept was Seamus Blackley - better known as the brainchild behind Microsoft's Xbox. Seamus is so ashamed of Trespasser nowadays that he refuses to even speak of it to anyone.

The lack of proper English description should be a sufficient warning for everyone willing to tryout this masterpiece brought to you by the creators of (in)famous Marine Sharpshooter series. Day of the Zombie is a shooter very, very similiar to Land of the Dead: Return to Fiddlers' Green but... its even worser. In fact, this game looks almost the same as its 2005 counterpart. Hell, it uses even the same graphics and models (!!!) You could just say: "Duh! It's probably just a dupe, scram!" But it is not! It's an all-new american-college-styled horror story with comic cinematics and real American voiceovers! Why you haven't heard of it before? Probably because it was only released in Russia under translated title 'Den Zombi'. Judging by it local success (one of the major Russian game portals, AG.RU scored it on 8%), GrooveGames's dream of world release has faded and no one gave a damn about Day-of-the-Recycled... till this very hour!

PES 6 will once again feature the graphical and gameplay tweaks that enable each new title to play completely differently from previous incarnations. The shooting system has been the subject of extensive retouching, now enabling players to pull off much more accurate snap shots as well as being able to exert a much larger feeling of control when going for quick half volleys or difficult full volleys.

The intelligence of players has seen a marked improvement. For example, players now make more realistic runs into space, often pointing where they would like the ball played. The physical aspect has also been beefed up, with strikers using their sheer presence to turn defenders and likewise, the defenders stepping a yard away to enable them to force players away from goal and not letting them spin into dangerous positions.

Romanum feels even more dated now despite the noticeable improvements in graphics. As good as it looks though, the city management gameplay lacks style and the combat portions are woefully underdeveloped.
There's not an official campaign here per se. Instead, you're given a number of different scenarios to play through. Some take you through a timeline of Rome and allied cities, letting you try your hand at building the Eternal City from it's earliest days, or reliving the heyday of Pompeiian life under the shadow of a smoldering Vesuvius. There are some neat choices here, and some nice nods to Roman history but the overall effect is pretty generic. We did like the inclusion of the big Roman monuments like the Circus Maximus and the Colloseum, but the short historical notes that go along with them are too brief to give people who aren't already Roman history fans a sense of what they were all about.
All the usual suspects of the city-building design are present here. Players have to place houses to attract workers, and then build city services like wells, schools and temples to keep the people happy. In order to help your people prosper and elevate them to a higher tax bracket, you'll also need to provide them with clothes, wine, baths and a host of other amenities. But in order to get access to clothes and wine, you'll need to create farms to produce the raw materials and workshops to process them into finished goods. Of course, these farms and workshops need employees who will be drawn from your houses. The whole appeal of the design is the unique balancing act required to keep all the aspects of your city up and running with as little waste as possible.

There's something undeniably satisfying about designing your own fully functioning city and it's an activity that we truly relish, particularly when the interface makes building placement is as easy as it is here. The only real problem with Imperium Romanum is that there's nothing particularly evocative of the Roman setting and no real improvements or refinements in terms of gameplay. In short, this feels like Generic City Builder 101 with a light veneer of Roman civilization laid over the top of it.

And even that's hampered by the poor AI and general lack of information and control. The residents of the city sometimes seem completely unable to find essential services that you've located right next to their house, and riot-inducing unrest and cash-draining fires seem to spring up regardless of how wonderfully you're doing. While it's easy enough to see how herbalists and wells can help to stave off a plague, you're left completely on your own to figure out how to improve the economic outlook of your citizens and prevent them from turning to a life of crime.
Things are even more difficult due to the lack of helpful overlays. Sure, there are summary screens that show all sorts of numbers and figures for your production, consumption and population, but it's impossible to see in a glance, for instance, which houses have access to taverns, or which are covered by a prefecture. The Forum, which serves as your central structure throughout the game, provides the necessary information for your employment levels, and the buildings themselves will show when they've been deprived of a necessary resource like labor or upkeep, but you never really seem to get a look at the big picture that's required to keep all the parts of your civic body running smoothly.

The objectives are pretty standard for the genre. Some missions have you trying to acquire a set population, or reach a certain number of high-level houses, or complete large works projects. While it's nothing we haven't seen a million times before, the system is improved by the inclusion of individual objective cards that you can draw from a deck. Some objectives cards are just straight bonuses, like extra cash or resources. Others require you to complete certain structures to move on. Since you can draw up to three objective cards at a time, you can have a few different goals in front of you at once. Unfortunately, the card order is fixed for the scenario so you won't have as much variety when you go back and replay your favorite cities. We did like being surprised when we let our "build barracks" card sit open while we pursued other objectives, only to draw a card that called in a barbarian invasion that we were totally unprepared for.
